OLANTA, S.C. – The town of Olanta participated in the Great American Cleanup Initiative on March 23 by hosting the Great Olanta Clean Up Day.
Nearly 100 residents and volunteers turned out to support the effort. Dozens of bags of litter were collected over 1.5 square miles.
Students and staff from Olanta Creative Arts and Science Magnet School showed up in great numbers to clean Truluck Park in preparation for the Olanta Easter Eggstravaganza. Howard Nettles of Genesis Healthcare Inc. helped organize the efforts, and the team was instrumental in litter pickup and landscaping.
Florence County Sheriff candidate T.J. Joye worked beyond the three-hour event to help push the projects to completion.
