Genesis at the Fall Students in Action Leadership Conference

This past week, Genesis had the pleasure of participating in the Jefferson Awards Foundation’s Fall Students in Action Leadership Conference. This conference promotes, encourages, and recognizes high achieving, high school students across the state who represent a community-oriented mentality, something we are very passionate about Genesis Healthcare.

Represented by our Director of Marketing, Howard Nettles, we facilitated a workshop entitled “What’s Our Service?” The workshop was geared towards helping students determine which community organizations and causes they would like to participate in and provide support for.

The students were engaged in such topics as conducting a Community Needs Assessments, understanding the role of demographics in community work, and how to garner and maintain volunteers and stakeholders.

This year’s conference held at the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in Florence, had 116 students representing 11 high schools located from the Midlands to the Coast.

We would like to thank all the students that came out and participated, and congratulate Howard Nettles for being named an honorary Jefferson Awards Foundation member. Let’s all continue to focus on coming together to create impactful change in the community.

Pink Is the New Black: Genesis Healthcare vs. Breast Cancer

Orange and black have always been associated with the month of October, along with the fiery reds, yellows, and oranges that make up the colors of the changing tree leaves. But in recent years, pink has managed to add itself to that list with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. This pink is associated with the color of the Pink Ribbon used for raising awareness, along with it being a reminder to both women and men to get checked.

This month, Genesis is excited to be a part of the Breast Cancer Awareness movement, and to be doing our part in being a reminder and advocate for people to get checked. To do this we have set up a calendar for all of October, where we will wear at least one piece of pink clothing to become walking billboards for Breast Cancer Awareness. Our Marketing Director, Howard Nettles, along with the rest of the Genesis staff are very excited to proudly wear pink, and we invite you all to join us. Hopefully together we can continue to be reminders and advocates for better health for our community.

The New Genesis Billboard

Have you spotted our new billboard at the Darlington Raceway? Our witty tagline was written to show that as your community health care provider, health is a part of our DNA and our identity. As we continue to expand and grow, we want the community to know that Genesis is always here to help, and this billboard is a grand reminder of this promise.

Genesis at the Business Empowerment & Career Fair

Genesis Healthcare had the pleasure of interacting with the motivated people of Florence, and the surrounding areas, at the Civic Center’s Business Empowerment & Career Fair on Saturday, August 5th. Represented by our Director of Marketing, Howard Nettles, we enjoyed a day of networking, keynote speakers, and live entertainment.

Making sure we do our part to be a consistent member in the communities that we serve is essential. Also interacting and networking with these friendly people is a pleasure in itself. Make sure to check out the photos, and if you have any questions about our upcoming events or employment please do not hesitate to contact us.

Giving Back to the Darlington Fire Department

On Friday, July 14th, 2017, Genesis had the pleasure of donating to the Darlington Fire Department. The donation was for the department’s Explorer Post Program 608. These funds will be used for the acquisition of much-needed new equipment. This equipment is essential in the development of Darlington’s future firefighters – who will, in time, be the ones who protect the Darlington community.

Thanks for all you do, and keep up the great work! It is much appreciated.
